Music—MA, MMUS
The Master of Arts in music is designed for students ready for a lifetime of professional service in the area of music. The Master of Music is designed for students ready to advance their knowledge and experience in the areas of music education, music ministry, performance or conducting. Both master’s programs combine classroom studies, in-the-field experience, and academic research; and will prepare students to become professional musicians.
PROGRAM LENGTH
32–35 credits depending on the emphasis selected. Typical completion for a full-time student is two years.
APPLICATION DEADLINES
The Department of Music only admits new students for fall semesters.
Prospective students must submit their applications and complete entrance exams by April 1.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor's degree (or non-U.S. equivalent) in an area appropriate to the major from an accredited institution and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.6 (applicants with lower GPA may be admitted upon consideration of the composite profile).
- Two recommendations from professionals such as advisors, major professors and employers.
- Resume describing employment, research or special projects.
- Statement of Purpose reflecting your philosophical perspective, personal, professional and academic goals, and reasons for seeking the graduate program.
- TOEFL, IELTS or PTE (academic): Students whose language of education is not English must submit English proficiency test scores.
- Application to Department of Music includes audition and music history/theory entrance exams. Please contact the graduate music program director at gradmusic@viyads.com as soon as possible to make arrangements.
